Fairs, Shows, and Markets

Bardney Craft Market will be held on 1st June 2008. Lots of stalls selling homemade goods and food. There will be bouncy castles for the kids. Parking is free.

The Brocklesby Country Fair will be held Sunday 22nd June 2008. A fun-filled day for the whole family, the fair is held on the Brocklesby Estate just two miles east of the Humberside International Airport.

The Lincolnshire Show 2008 is on Wednesday, 18th June and Thursday, 19th June.

Livestock, horticulture, food court, cooking demonstrations and hundreds of exhibits. Tickets for adults are £16, OAP £13, children aged 5 to 16 years £9, and children under 5 are free. Family tickets are available.

Parking is plentiful and free. Disabled facilities and parking are available. Dogs other than assistance dogs are not permitted. Shuttle service from the Lincoln Bus Station is available.

The Lincolnshire Show takes place at the Lincolnshire Showground just north of Lincoln.

The Lincoln Continental Market will be on 06 June 2008 to 08 June 2008. It is held on Corn Hill and High Street in Lincoln.

The International Guild of Town Pipers Festival will be in Lincoln on the 27th, 28th& 29th June 2008. The bands which come from all over the country will perform all over the city of Lincoln. On Friday a procession will begin at 3:00 pm at Castle Square and will parade up Steep Hill and High Street ending at Guild Hall.

On Saturday morning beginning at 10:30 am performances will be held at Castle Square, Steep Hill, St Martins Square, Guildhall (Stonebow), St Benedictís Square, and The Collection (museum).

On Sunday individual bands will sound the hours from within Lincoln Castle walls from 10 am to 4:00 pm. All of the bands will perform together at Castle Square at 12:45 pm.

The Sugababes perform at Belvoir Castle on 21 June 2008. Call The Ticket Hotline for tickets at 08450 701 770. Doors open at 6:30 pm for picnics. The show begins at 7:30 pm. There is no seating so bring your own. Disabled parking is available.

June at Belvoir Castle

On Sunday June 1, 2008 Belvoir Castle invites you to tour its gardens with the Head Gardiner.

On Sunday June 8, 2008 you can tour the parks of Belvoir Castle, farms, see the Belvoir Hounds and listen to talks by the Head Gamekeeper.

In addition to the Sugababes concert above, Katherine Jenkins will do a Concert in the Park with National Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, June 22, 2008. Gates open at 5:30 pm for picnics. The show begins at 7:30 pm. Bring your own seating. Call The Ticket Hotline at 0845 0701770 for tickets or purchase them at the castle ticket office.

The show ends with musical fireworks.

Fun Events in Lincolnshire Summer 2008 for All Ages

Try your hand at archery at Belton House with the Lionheart Company of Bowmen. Dates: June 7 and 8, June 28 and 29. Time: 11:00 am to 5:30 pm. Normal admission applies plus charge of £1.50 for six arrows.

Kite Flying Workshop at Belton House on June 14 and 15 from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. Normal admission applies. No additional charges.

Medieval Spinning for children four years and up is offered at Tattershall Castle on 22 June and 29 June. This is a chance to learn to use a real spinning wheel and make a piece of wool yarn. Children from age four and up are welcome. Time: 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Normal entry charges apply. Booking is not necessary.

Learn how to do a Brass Rubbing at Tattershall Castle on 28 June from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. There is a small additional charge for materials.

July, 2008

July Music Events in Lincolnshire
Summer 2008

Boston's Party in the Park will be on 11th, 12th and 13th of July 2008 in Boston's Central Park. This year all events will be on the main stage. Friday evening will feature jazz, folk, and hip hop.

Saturday will feature various school groups and the evening will begin with rockers Evolution and The Split. The evening will also feature an international group which is yet to be announced.

Sunday begins with music from Abi Moore and the Boston Operatic Society. Early afternoon will feature The Cooltapes and The Jase North Blues Band. Then taking the stage will be The CS Big Band with 1940's to present day classics. Following will be a local gospel band and The Idlers.

Sunday evening soul music by The Rumble Band will start off and the evening will continue with country rock by 101 Proof, The Band from County Hell and will finish with the Boston Youth Jazz Orchestra.

Alford Jazz Festival at Alford Manor House & Museum will be held on 11th, 12th and 13th of July 2008.

Friday evening at 7:00 pm there will be a Jazz Supper at the Half Moon on West Street with the band Gentle Jazz from Grimsby. Get your tickets from the Half Moon--Telephone: 01507 463 477. Tickets are £20 and must be purchased in advance.

On Saturday there will be a lunchtime concert in the gardens of the Half Moon from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with the Swingfellas playing gypsy jazz and and The Back of the Moon Band. Tickets are £5 and can be purchased at the door.

Saturday evening from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm listen and dance to music from the Swing era with the band SHINY STOCKINGS in the Manor House Marquee. Barbecue food and a bar will be available. Tickets are £10 and can be purchased at the door

On Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm there will be New Orleans style music by Tony Orme and the Saratoga Jazz Ensemble in the gardens of Alford Manor House. This is a picnic event where you bring your own food, chairs, and blankets. Food is available at the Alford Manor House Cafe. Tickets are £5 and are available at the door.

Sunday evening back at the Half Moon will be a Jazz Gig from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm with Rick Woolgar and Pat McCarthy. Tickets are £5 at the door. Alford Manor House is on West Street in Alford.

Summertime Blues will feature Aidan Marshall and The Eddie Tatton Band and a reunion of The Bamboo Beat Band. Saturday 26 July at 8:00 pm. Tickets: £7. Also a Blues Special at the Cafe Bar 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm. This will be held outside if weather permits.

July Fesitvals and Fair Events
in Lincolnshire Summer 2008

The Bailgate Busking Festival in Lincoln on 12 July 2008 in the Bailgate area. This is one of the free events in Lincolnshire summer 2008.

This year the Brayford Waterfront Festival is on 19th and 20th July 2008 on the Brayford Waterfront in Lincoln. It will be fun for the whole family with jet ski shows, dragon boat races, street performers and musicians. There will be fireworks Saturday evening.

Re-enactment Events in Lincolnshire Summer 2008

The Living History Weekend at Tattershall Castle will see Sir John Saville's Household move into the castle on 19th and 20th July 2008. On Sunday, the castle will be laid seige to. The gates open at 11:00 am and close at 5:00 pm. Admission: Adult £4.70, Child £2.50, Family £11.90.

At Belvoir Castle on Saturday, July 05, 2008 to Sunday, July 06, 2008 a Napoleonic Wars living history camp. Firing guns and cannons, soldiers performing drills, and re-enactment of battles will be presented. Lots of colour and photo opportunities.

More Fireworks Events in Lincolnshire, Summer 2008

On Saturday, July 19th, Belvoir Castle will host Fireworks Championships 2008. There will be four huge firework displays. The gates open at 5:00 pm and the fireworks begin at 9:00 pm. The Midsummer Magic Concert at Lincoln Castle is on 23rd August through 25th August.

Enjoy an evening of 1940's music at the Embassy Theatre in Skegness on Wednesday, 6th August. Performers will be the Glen Miller Orchestra, Joan Regan, Moonlight Serenaders, and The Uptown Hall Gang. Re-enactment Events in Lincolnshire Summer 2008

Experience The Civil War at Belvoir Castle when The Sealed Knot re-enactment group puts on a display of the Kings forces holding the castle and the Parliamentarians bring their reign to an end. This is one of the largest re-enactments in Britain and will take place over the bank holiday weekend on Sunday, 24th August and Monday 25th August.

Enjoy Roman re-enactments at the village of Wrawby in the north Lincolnshire Wolds on 9th August. The village is celebrating the end of an archeological dig. The Roman re-enactment group, Legio VII Augusta, will have a military camp set up on the village playing field. Displays of weaving, writing, leatherwork and metal asR well as military drills and catapult displays will be shown. Children will have the opportunity to make a clay pot, design a mosaic, and try on a Roman helmut. Military drills and catapult demonstrations will be at 11:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm. Entry is free. There is a small charge for children's craft activities.

Wrawby is two miles northeast of Brigg on the A18.

Other Events in Lincolnshire Summer 2008

The Revesby Country Fair will be held Sunday, 3rd August at Revesby Park near Horncastle. There will be a horse show and trade stands. Gates open at 8:30 am. Fees are £15 per car and £25 per minibus. Parking is free. For more information call 01205 365 213.

Wildlife and Nature Tour. Go on a guided walk to enjoy a variety of wildlife on, Sunday, 10th August at the The Natural World Visitor Centre. This is something the whole family can enjoy. The walk is about 1.5 miles long and takes approximately two hours. It only costs £1 per person. The Natural World Visitor Centre is at Whisby Nature Park, Moor Lane, Thorpe on the Hill, Lincoln. Lincolnshire Steam and Vintage Rally. Lincolnshire Showground in Lincoln will hold its Lincolnshire Steam and Vintage Rally on Saturday, 16 August and Sunday 17 August at the Lincolnshire Showground. Over 1500 exhibits which include steam engines, motor cycles, military vehicles, and vintage tractors. Admission is £6 for adults, £3 for children, and £4 Concessions.

Two dates in August at the Lincolnshire Showground in Lincoln for an Antique Fair --3rd August and 31st August. Admission is £1.10 for adults, concessions 80p, and children are free. Doors open at 9:00 am and close at 4:00 pm.

Embroidery Sundays at Grimsthorpe Castle

This is a three-day course held on three consecutive Sundays. Class one will cover crewel design using designs in Grimsthorpe Castle and gardens. Class two will finalize designs and practice different stitches. Class three will show the development of the individual pieces. Embroidery materials will be available to buy. Classes begin on Sunday, 31 August and continue 7th September and 14th September from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm with one hour off for lunch. The cost is £135. For some Bank Holiday fun for the whole family go to the first annual Swaton Fun Day on August 24th. Festivities begin at 11:00 am. There will be fairground amusements, face painting, pony rides, bouncy castle, children's races, and a fancy dress competition. For adults there will be a beer tent, craft stalls, and a tug of war competition.

Swaton is on the B1394 just north of the A52.
